Reviewing the world largest remote hackathon
Recently, one of the world largest remote hackathon just ended. If you have not heard about it, is literally called World’s Largest Hackathon presented by Bolt. A total of 128768 participants and 9582 projects submitted. This is in fact one of the highest I ever seen on DevPost.
If you have not heard of bolt.new before, it is basically an AI-powered web builder that allows users to build full-stack applications directly from their browser using natural language prompts, aka No Code. Bolt AI generates the frontend, backend, and even database structure. This eliminates the need for local development environments, code editors, and complex configurations.
Because of the low barrier of entry and kinda unlimited upside in terms of the prizes, is no surprise to me.

Sadly, I wanted to participate in this hackathon, but really couldn’t managed the time to build something given the time commitment and other priority in life I have to focus on. Also, I don’t have any idea in mind that worthy of putting me at a podium spot.
Anyway, despite all those, is still fun to see the kind of ideas and projects that other have submitted. Most of it is just a short 3 minute.
My verdicts on the submitted projects
And boy oh boy, the winners of the project are indeed super high quality. You might think that you need engineering skills to reach this level of quality. What if, all of those are just based on prompts? The rule literally state –
Confirm usage of Bolt.new to build the project and show the ‘Built with Bolt.new’ badge on your public project.
Anyway, awesome idea…
For me, I most inspired by this project called ModelMesh. Is really solve the problem that I am facing most of the time. Have you heard of Analysis paralysis? I am basically that when comes to choosing a model for a job. This can save me so much trouble just…

Just love the idea where it uses 2 agents where the model is swappable – selecting the model of your choice for testing. One is to generate the output, and the other is to evaluate the output. And, finally presenting it in a reports (with score) for you to make a choice. Absolutely brilliant!

Sadly, you can 100% know this project is not done by a developer. When I try to sign up on a demo site, it leads back to localhost
. Oh well, if I had the time, this would be my next hobby project for sure!
Impressive UI generation
Also, take a look at this UI…

We seriously is able to vibe code to accomplish the video drag and drop timeline now? That’s crazy, it used to take months of development to get this UI ready.
There are a lot more to see, just go to browse and get inspired in the project gallery section.
