Diving into Blockchain with EOSIO
Devpost is one of the popular sites that host virtual hackathons. If you’re aren’t aware of it. You should.
Back in 2017, I was one of those crypto crazes that invested in EOS. Knowing quite well in terms of their functionality, EOS is not alien to me. So yea, the hackathon is there, and I took the chance to try out hands-on some blockchain programming and engaging with the hackathon community too.
There is 2 website I used for my learning.
The first link is good to gain a high-level understanding and functionality of the EOS. And Udemy course dives deeper into coding, which I found to be more helpful to complete the hackathon challenges.
If you’re coming from a web-developer background. This is quite easy. The concept is similar. Build a frontend using SPA (React) and replace the backend with EOS contract using C++. The rest is just trial and error until it works.
With that, I have managed to complete my apps within 1 month. Solo all the way, because couldn’t commit to collaborating with other people. Juggling between slacking and full-time work is hard.
I am proud to complete the project codename “Memoize” (http://memoize.choong.pw) and is even featured on their “Beyond blockchain” page too.
Have to admit, this is kinda crappy for my standard. Just happy that I can see through it and finish the app within a few hours of my every weekend.
Also thanks to the hackathon perks, I got away with some GCP credit vouchers to use for development and swags. 🙂
