2020 Simplifying

Welcome to the year 2020. What greater way to start thinking about 2020 with reflecting on the past? I would strongly recommend listen to this podcast Simplifying. This was my podcast of the month, that got me into listening multiple times, just to extract information out of it. It ask a few deep question that kept me thinking, reflecting what I did and should do for the last month, the last year, the last decade.

A quick summary of this is to simplify your life. By prioritizing what is important and taking away what is not. Heard it before somewhere? Sounds simple?

That’s the magic of this podcast. It was structured in a series of questions, what get me into deep thought. What I was doing for the past decade.

Quote

Below are a series of quote from the podcast, I’ve written to help me or perhaps you to reflect on the question that was prompt from the podcast.

What one thing did you accomplish in your 2020 is worth your time? Perhaps approach it from the opposite angle, imagine you get into 2030 and looking back into the last 10 years. You have a deep regret, what is that regret center on.

What is interesting is when you ask this 2 question together, you often have different answers. Something we consider accomplishment, is not something we consider a regret if we didn’t accomplish it. This isn’t always true, the closer you can align this, the more closer is true and accurate.

Scale that down, imagine at yearly level, monthly level…

A lot of things that we concern about in the coming months, seems to become less important. So, if you start to with the fame of ten years, and scale down to month level. Then. you start to get a more impactful picture of what is truly important in the next month.

Reflecting

Here are a series of question to ask to start reflecting.

  • What are 3 things in the list of things you expect to do next year that are the least important?
  • Once you have that, are there any other thing you could replace that are more important?
  • What things has you done in the last year, 3 years, or last decade you should no longer do?
  • What are the 3 things you should continue to do?
  • What are the things you haven done, you should start doing?
  • What are the top priority to improve your work or life?
  • What is your number one enemy to achieving that goal?
